Who doesn’t love a great par 5? They give you the best chance at birdie and can be some of the most fun holes you play all day. We asked our General Manager, Patrick Wilkinson, to pick his two favorite par 5s on the golf course.
No. 7
There is a classic reason that number 7 tops Patrick’s list: it’s a risk/reward par 5 that forces you to you hit a great shot. “Hey – go for it in two if you can, but make sure you get it there on your second shot,” he explains. “Otherwise, you’ll find the water or a heavily guarded bunker.”
This green slopes from back to front toward the aforementioned water. Patrick advises, “If you have to chip, be careful your shot doesn’t get away from you.” Number 7 is truly one of the most fun holes you can play here at Diamondback!
No. 15
Number 15 falls into the #2 slot in this category for Patrick, who cites a compelling element for including it among his favorites: the dogleg that doesn’t allow you to cut your shot too close to any of the corners. The ideal tee shot here is down the middle of the fairway. Says Patrick, “If you’re a big hitter you can go for this green, but be careful!” A deep-faced bunker is the main challenge you will run into here. Avoid that to leave yourself the best look at a birdie!
