A big part of growing the game is giving junior golfers the opportunity to compete. High school team participation helps our youth get noticed by college golf coaches, and along the way they learn how to interact with others, work as a team, and form friendship bonds that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. Those are among the big reasons why, at Diamondback, we want to continue hosting high school golf tournaments and competitions.
“We just love hosting the high school golf tournaments,” says Diamondback General Manager Patrick Wilkinson, who points to his course as a great test for players of all skill levels that also offers an easy walking experience for competing teams. Diamondback recently hosted tournament for Aynor High School, where Wilkinson and his staff closed the course to outside play on Saturday and Sunday to accommodate. They provided competitors and coaches breakfast and lunch, while Diamondback staff made sure the golf course and facilities were in the best possible shape.
Diamondback’s tournament hosting isn’t its only offering for local high school golf teams. The club also makes its practice facilities and course available to them during the week and allows teams to host their own afternoon tournaments. Diamondback takes great pride in what it feels is its duty to support interscholastic competition and activities. High school golf is an important element of the junior golf experience, and we are happy to foster its growth here at Diamondback.
