In the last installment of “Patrick’s Picks for 36,” Diamondback General Manager Patrick Wilkinson gives you one of the most popular picks along the Grand Strand. After your morning round and lunch at Diamondback Golf Club, head down Highway 9 towards Farmstead Golf Links.
“Farmstead is almost the complete opposite of Diamondback,” Patrick notes – and he’s right. “Diamondback is narrower with small greens,” he continues, “while Farmstead is pretty open with large greens that are hard to miss. While both golf courses have some type of Bermuda greens, Farmstead has Champion Bermuda greens which give the playing competitors a different surface to learn. The golf course is always in phenomenal shape, too. From tee to green, golfers are in for a treat when they visit.”
The main attraction at Farmstead is the 767-yard par 6 finishing hole. The region’s only par 6, this finishing hole actually begins with a drive into a wide sweeping fairway in South Carolina and concludes on a large undulating green in North Carolina. This hole will leave you with a smile on your face no matter what score you make here.
The most important thing about Farmstead is its location. “Farmstead is closer to North Myrtle Beach,” says Patrick, “so you can come play us in the morning and then be closer to the shops, restaurants, and bars in the afternoon.” Farmstead sits just 20 minutes outside of North Myrtle Beach, making it and easy trip for vacationing golfers.
